MEET MARK

 

I’m Mark. I’m no stranger to running a business. Prior to entering the design/build industry as COO of Synergy Design & Construction, I managed the operations of six multimillion-dollar facilities for two Fortune 500 companies, five of which were new store openings in emerging markets.

With many years (25+) of direct industry experience as a business owner in the remodel space and in retail management, I’ve learned a thing or two about process implementation and improvement, employee management, finance, direct customer relations, construction management, procurement, vendor relations, human resources and P&L analysis and control.

I’m also a proven and strategic expert in soft skills – balancing a demanding 24/7, 7-day-a-week business where you feel every decision depends on you. Avoiding the pressures of societal norms to be able to operate the business the way I wanted to operate it. How do I maximize my business vs just selling more? How do I maximize my business without sacrificing myself? Developing a team of future leaders. Trusting those leaders. Scaling up. Scaling down. Breaking the ceiling. You name it - I’ve felt it. MY PHILOSOPHY

As you can imagine, I’ve been approached by or worked with a number of different business consultants. Most have the same philosophy - coaching to grow top-line revenue (sales). There’s absolutely nothing wrong with this philosophy or focus; it just never called to me. I never aspired to have 50 employees or to remodel 75 kitchens a year or be so big I couldn’t possibly personally know all my customers.

Business strategies must differentiate the company from its competitors, and be clear, simple and easy to understand. The business needs effective and efficient processes and procedures to protect and grow the bottom line. ORGANIZATION INVOLVEMENT

Mark proudly served on the Board of Directors as Chairman of the Board and past President for the metropolitan area’s chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), the only independent national association dedicated solely to the remodeling industry.  

As an authority in the remodeling industry, Mark was also invited to participate in Harvard's Remodeling Futures Program, part of their Joint Center for Housing Studies.

Mark is an avid golfer and volunteers his time coaching golf to his area’s Special Olympics athletes. He is a graduate of Penn State University.
